Architecture Review — Scope & Deliverables
For teams designing (or redesigning) an AI platform who want an adversarial read before the design hardens.
You get the review I would want if I were joining your team: specific, evidence-backed, with options and their trade-offs — not a best-practices checklist.
Best fit
- A new agentic platform or AI feature set is being designed and the architecture is on paper or in a branch.
- An existing platform is being re-platformed and the trade-offs are being argued rather than decided.
- You suspect the design optimizes the wrong thing (cool demos, fragile production) and want that suspicion examined.
What gets examined
- Trust boundaries — where agent-executed code and decisions can reach, and what contains a misbehaving component.
- Model dependency — what happens on provider changes, deprecations, and rate limits; where abstraction helps and where it just moves the problem.
- Memory & context design — what agents remember, where it lives, how it is versioned and audited.
- Tool & action surface — the real permission graph, versus the intended one.
- Observability by design — whether the architecture can answer the four questions (what did it do, cost, why, who stopped it) or fights them.
- Human authority placement — where humans sit in the loop, and whether that is enforced structurally.
- Delivery path — how changes (human- and agent-authored) reach production, and what the guardrail story is.
Deliverables
- Written findings: per-decision commentary with severity and rationale.
- Options with trade-offs for the contested decisions — not a single opinion presented as fact.
- A recommended path with the reasoning exposed, so you can disagree with it productively.
- A short list of the design decisions that will be expensive to reverse later, ranked.
How it runs
Read-only by default: architecture docs, repos, and diagrams reviewed, then working sessions with your architects. Most reviews complete inside two weeks of kickoff. If the review uncovers something that needs the full audit treatment, the natural next step is the readiness audit.
Engagements are scoped by quote after a short call — the shape above is the shape, the size depends on your system. Start with a deep dive or email directly.
